| The Bryce Canyon
200k This is a new event but it based on a well tested route. Many cyclists ride this route during the year on organized events as well as in touring groups. This is the heart of Color Country which has become a cycling destination for riders literally from around the globe. The stunning Utah landscapes found on this route will leave an indelible impression on each participant. The ride begins in historic Panguitch before climbing up through scenic Red Canyon. After a gentle climb up to the Paunsaugunt Plateau riders are treated to views of Powell Point and Grand Staircase National Monument. We will briefly enter Bryce Canyon National Park on our way to the first checkpoint in Tropic Utah just below Bryce. After Tropic we have a climb back up to John's Valley where we turn north to follow the East Fork of the Sevier River. Suddenly the bottom drops out as you head down Black Canyon past historic sights and towns such as Osiris, Antimony and Kingston. Next stop is Junction Utah at the foot of the 12,000+ ft Tushar Mountains before you turn and head back towards Panguitch. Mild summertime temperatures and spectacular wildflowers are normal for this time of year, you will not be dissapointed!!! |

details Riders should meet at the Garfield County Fairgrounds at 800 North Main St. in Panguitch Utah. Map of start location. This checkpoint will be open at 6:15 am, the ride will start promptly at 7:00 am. There will be a riders meeting at 6:45 am. This will be the time for any questions. Please come prepared and on time!
